🙋‍♀️ Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where is La Chantin located?

La Chantin is in Playa Guanico, on the Pacific coast of Panama, in the beautiful and quiet district of Tonosí. We're surrounded by jungle, ocean, and local life — a perfect escape from the tourist trail.

2. How do I get to Playa Guanico?

The easiest way is by car — we recommend a 4x4 if you're arriving in rainy season. From Panama City, it’s about 6.5 hours via Las Tablas and the Cacao/La Miel route. There’s also a daily bus from Las Tablas to Guanico at 12:30 PM (except Sundays). Private shuttles or taxis from Playa Venao or Pedasí can also be arranged.

3. Do I need a car to get around?

Not necessarily. If you stay at La Chantin, the beach, surf spots, and a few small stores are all within walking distance. But having a car gives you more freedom to explore waterfalls, nearby beaches, or go out to eat in Cambutal.

4. Is Playa Guanico a good surf destination?

Yes! Guanico is a hidden gem for surfers — uncrowded waves, great consistency, and a chill vibe. It's beginner-friendly but also great for intermediates and longboarders.

5. Do you offer surf lessons or rentals?

Yes, we offer surf lessons for all levels, and we can connect you with local instructors and board rentals. Just let us know when booking!

6. What other activities can I do nearby?

You can go horseback riding on the beach, join a fishing trip, take a nature walk, skate the surfskate pista, or enjoy art and cooking workshops if available. Guanico is also perfect for simply resting, reading in a hammock, or watching the sunset.

7. What should I pack for La Chantin / Playa Guanico, Panama ?

Bring light, breathable clothing, a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, a flashlight, and reef-safe toiletries. Don’t forget swimwear, surf gear (if you have your own), sandals, and a reusable water bottle. Nights can get cool — a light sweater is nice to have too.

8. Is there Wi-Fi and phone signal?

Yes, we have Wi-Fi, strong enough for emails, video calls, or remote work. However, the connection depends on weather conditions. Phone signal is limited — best with +Movil or Tigo SIM cards.

9. Is Panama safe for solo or family travelers?

Yes — Panama is generally very safe, and Guanico is a quiet, friendly community. As always, use common sense, don’t leave valuables unattended, and respect local customs. We host many solo travelers, couples, and families without issues.

10. What language is spoken in Guanico?

Spanish is the main language. At La Chantin, we speak Spanish, English, and French — so we’ve got you covered!

11. What’s the vibe like at La Chantin?

La Chantin is calm, creative, and community-oriented. We love a mix of cultures, slow mornings, shared meals, and outdoor fun. Perfect for surfers, families, artists, nature lovers, and conscious travelers.
